I’ve searched the archives and read everything I could find regarding this issue. I couldn’t find any solutions to the problem other than the possibility of a hardware problem (which I’m really hoping it isn’t).

    Here’s what happened:
My DVCPro deck began having some tape transport issues. I unhooked it yesterday and brought it in to get repaired. I got it back today and hooked it up. Everything was back to normal until I tried to digitize (in FCP). The video coming into the computer (from a DVCPro deck using the component outputs through a Decklink Extreme) was extremely dark.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
I’ve unhooked everything and re-hooked everything back up.
Hooked a monitor up directly to the deck to check the signal I was sending to the computer (which was fine).
Switched the DL inputs (deck outputs) from component to composite. No change – still dark.
Checked the input level through both FCP and Blackmagic Deck Control.
Tried boosting the Proc Amp. Even with it all the way up, the video still isn’t close to usable.
Uninstalled and re-installed the Decklink drivers (4.8; I’m using 10.3.9 and FCP 4.5).
Repaired permissions just incase (never hurts anyway).
I have Tiger (with FCP 5.0.2 and with the DL 5 drivers) installed on an external drive. I booted that system and tried it, but got the same dark video input.

Everything worked perfectly until I unhooked the deck and hooked it back up. I checked the DeckLink cable and can’t see any bends or crimps in it. I’m really not sure what else to try. I appreciate any and all help or ideas any of you have to offer. Thank you very much,

This may or may not apply to you, but I had the same problem just a couple of weeks ago. Image on my Sony NTSC monitor was just fine but the captured clips in FCP HD 5.0.1 were very dark. After a lot of trouble trying to cure it I discovered that my RAID was not recording correctly (files were not writing to the drive and turned up corrupted). After talking to ATTO I decided to reformat and restripe. Problem went away after that. Go figure.
