Damaged Audio H4n

I have had this same problem, and it is indeed Vegas related. The files import just fine in Premiere, or play back fine in VLC or other media players, but in multiple versions of Vegas (9, 10, etc), the files import with glitches. The wave drawings are often glitched too. Upon playback, it’s as if the bits are garbled and out of order…you can hear certain parts of the audio briefly at times and then digital noise and pops. Something is wrong with the way Vegas is accessing the timecode in the file or some such thing.

Has anyone noticed a workaround that will allow use of the original wav files? Many of mine have markers on them that I’d like to maintain.

My only workaround has been to open the wav files in Sound Forge or something else, and save them as aiff files. Then they open in Vegas just fine, although they lose the marker metadata.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Something is amiss with the way Vegas sees long files from a Zoom H4n.

I do agree that Vegas is VERY audio capable. I use is as a sound design template and also as a finishing tool for surround mixes. Very powerful routing and track use. It’s a shame these Zoom wav files are such a problem. Again, this is Vegas only. I’ve tried it on several other platforms and the files are fine otherwise.

Yes I am encountering this problem all the time. You are not crazy and the other opinions here do not pertain to the issue you have addressed. There is definitely an issue with Zoom Audio and Sony Vegas 10, 11 and 12. I do not know on which side the trouble lies, though I believe it is in the Zoom files themselves and further I am not sure if they become corrupted before or after meeting the software.
