Hi! The company I work for uses Da Vinci Resolve for grading and lately we acquired an Autodesk Flame but we’re having problems conforming DPX files that comes out from the Resolve.
The workflow is like this we get offline EDL’s from FCP and then we grade the R3D files in the Resolve and then export to DPX and do the online on the Flame. The problem is that the footages gets renamed when Da Vinci exports it. And because of this we can’t assemble the timeline in autodesk flame because the filename is so different form the offline. From an R3D footage that has an alphanumeric filename with more than 8 characters the Resolve changes it to an 8 character numeric filename. is there anyway for the resolve to retain the original filename? Because even if we choose to use fileheader timecode we still get the same problems on the flame.
Thank you in advance. I’ll appreciate any help that you guys can give.
It’s been brought to my attention that the response I posted was a bit confusing, so below I will try to clarify it.
On the “Record” page (access with “Control r”), select the “Use Prefix, Suffix, Number of Digits from Source” check box, and on the “Recording Mode” drop down menu, select “Source”. This should render the file similar to r3d naming convention.
In the version 6 operations guide, this is described on pages 265 through 269.
If you don’t have the version 6 operations guide, you can download a PDF version here:
Actually, what you will be downloading at that link is the very latest Resolve operations guide, with BMD branding and some updates from the original version 6 manual. So all current Resolve users should probably download this new operations manual. And in this manual, the Record page description is on pages 200 through 205.
