Da Vinci Audio
Posted by Michael Schafer on March 6, 2024 at 7:09 pmWhen I cut a VO on my RODE mixer the audio quality is quite good. After I import the VO into
Da Vinci 18.5, the “Ss” sound very sibilant. Anyone else have this problem and found a solution?

March 7, 2024 at 5:28 amMore information about how you monitor both the recording and Resolve, plus the codec you use to import in Resolve.
Also when you say ‘cut’ on the rode mixer, I presume you mean record not edit.

March 7, 2024 at 1:57 pmHi Michael…thanks for responding!
I use the RODEcaster Pro mixer to record, or cut my VOs. The output is a 48KHz, 24-bit sample. When I listen to playback from the RODE to check the VO, the audio quality is quite good – siblants are non-existent. Codec is Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 10 bit video.
After I put the VO into the DaVinci timeline “Esses” are wildly evident even though I cannot hear such noise playing the VO through the RODE.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance!

March 12, 2024 at 12:15 amI can only think you are monitoring the RODE differently to Resolve. A PCM digital signal is identical in both. EQ or other signal processing might change the sound but my guess is you are monitoring the RODE differently to Resolve
