D90 Syncing sound
Posted by Benton Greene on April 5, 2010 at 10:08 pmHey Everyone,
When syncing sound from a mixer to the image shot on the D90 do you have to do anything special? I read somewhere that syncing sound to 5d footage requires you to play the audio at 99% or it will fall out of sync over time.
Any help? Thanks
Benton

April 6, 2010 at 12:48 amReally depends on your recorder. If it’s pro and timecode accurate you shouldn’t see any drift.

April 6, 2010 at 1:18 amI guess that’s the point. Timecode accurate would be at 29.97 but the D90 shoots 24fps. My last shoot seemed to drift out of sync very slightly but enough to ruin it in my mind…Thanks for the response though!

April 6, 2010 at 5:06 pmGetting a shot synced is not hard. What is is maintaining sync over a long take- for that you need a professional audio recorder…

April 16, 2010 at 9:48 pmThanks Noah,
Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I was actually getting ready for a shoot…that I just finished.
We had pro equipment and I believe the sync should be easy…I’ll see later on tonight in our first editing session.
Do you use the D90at all? I see you have a book on The Red One…what an amazing instrument that is.
Thanks
