Hey I got about 4 hours of D88 tapes. They were already transferred to omfs but final cut does not reconize them what I need is these tapes put in to usable media. They are eight channels and I need the time code attached so I can sync it up with my cut. I heard automatic duck was my only way to get this done. I have a budget I just need to know what is the best method to get this done. And I need to find somebody to do it.
    thanks
    Jeff

Automatic duck will do it… it’s like $500.

Book some time on an Avid.
Import them into the Avid (OMF is their format), then export AIFF files to use in FCP

can we export those omf files with timecode in them? So I can sync them back to my cut.

I just tested on an Avid, and the answer apparently is no. The timecode reverts to 1 hour straight up.

I suppose if the timecode on the D88’s is continuous, you could simply note the start times, then modify the timecode to match after you import into FCP.

Automatic Duck may be the only other solution.

Or import them into Pro Tools and export the AIFFs into FCP
