    Hi Everyone,

I don’t know which forum to ask this in, so I’ll go with the trusty FCP forum.

I’m using the latest FCP, currently we have the AJA IoLA, I assume if I want to do the below I will probably have to invest in a Kona card. (feel free to verify my assumption)

So anyways, I was curious if any of you have outputted from FCP to D-Beta 16:9 anamorphic. And if so, what steps would I take to do so?

A brief answer (if possible) will do. As we are trying to figure out if it is possible. For an output to be used at a regional TV Station.

If anyone can help that’d be great!

    Thanks,
    Scott

    What’s your source? HD?

you can totally put anamorphic footage on a digibeta. it’s a no brainer. but you need to start with footage that can be made anamorphic

to add to what AAron said, when you monitor the output, does it fill the screen and require you to press the “16:9” button on your monitor to properly display it?

If so and you can monitor that going through your digibeta deck your all set.

Its highly unusual for a TV station to want an anamorphic unsqueezed version for airing, because its more work for them to letterbox it for playback.

Be sure thats what they really want and not an anamorphic letterbox formatted dub.

Outputting anamorphic to digi beta is the norm here in Australia. We never deliver letterbox.

There is no such thing as anamorphic letterbox either. You have standard 4:3 , 4:3 letterbox and 16:9 which is actually 4:3 anamorphic (or full height). Digi beta records all of these as a standard def 4:3 pic so it is just a matter of how the FCP sequence is set up as to how that hits the tape.

Check with your broadcaster which aspect they actually want and then set your sequence accordingly

letterbox 4:3 from an anamorphic full height source is what I implied.
