cycle through open tabs?
Hello,
Forgive me if this has already been answered or if this has a ridiculously simple solution.
I am trying to get quicker around final cut using more key strokes instead of the mouse and this is the one thing I really cannot figure out. Ok, let’s say I have a few sequences open and I have the time-line activated (apple-3), I would like to somehow cycle through the other sequences that are open with keystrokes (instead of clicking on their tabs), like say I’m on sequence A and I’d like to activate sequence B, or C with a keystroke. Anyway to do this.
Also this would be nice to know for other windows/tabs like the Browser for instance, toggling between the effects tab and the project tab would be nice.
Any ideas on how to do this?

You can map virtually anything to (nearly) any key combo on your keyboard using the KEYBOARD tool in the menus. I have made extensive use of modifying my keyboard to the point that having a color coded FCP keyboard is almost pointless at this point. There’s not much I can’t do with my shortcuts I have programmed in, and anytime I don’t have to touch the mouse is a good time.
I love key commands, I admit it, I’m addicted.
Now I just need scripting knowledge to start linking events in FCP to automate certain functions, and I will be in heaven.

Thanks for the response.
I’ve mapped it to F1 since that is empty. I guess I’ll just bring my saved layout with me so I can have it no matter where I am or whose system I’m on.

Yeah, I have all my prefs, window layouts, keyboard layout, (and some plugins) on my 2 gig geekstick, so I can have them with me wherever I am. I even posted them on my company’s FTP site so I can DL them if someone snags my geekstick.
