Just wanted to know the easiest way to cut up clips in an already captured (to FCP) hdv tape (16 min long). Basically, I choose capture “now” when I captured this footage of an interview. I know you can set timecodes and batch capture but for this particlar clip (16 min long) I wanted it in full. But now when I import the footage, I’m having difficulties splitting the footage up and renaming it into multipul clips (as I see now where I want to spit my film.

I’m a total newbie as you can see but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS – any excellent links for absolute rookies trying to understand basic rendering with hdv would also be a bonus.

    Thanks…

You can use subclips. Mark an IN point and an OUT point in your clip. Press cmd-U or select “Make Subclip” in the Modify menu.
