I have a vector photo of a pheasant I have put through Streamline and I’m wondering how I cut around it in illustrator so that a background will show through behind it?

Any help is much appreciated. 🙂

Draw a path around the image, make sure the new path is in front of the drawing and placed where you want it, select the path and the drawing. Under the OBJECT drop down menu, scroll to CLIPPING MASK and MAKE.

This should give you what you want

I did try making a path. But, what I’m trying to see through is basically just white space that’s around my illustration.

It gives me an error that says, “Can not make mask. Must contain more than one object.”

Do you know what the problem could be?

When you make a mask, you must have both the new path and the item you want to mask selected.
