Cutting and pasting
I have edited several interviews and worked with them in separate files. If I interviewed John Smith, I created a file named Smith and then put in the clips that I thought I would use from his interview into that file and then applied effects to get the look and sound that I wanted. Now I want to create themed files and put snippets of each interview into those themed files. So, if Smith and Johnson each talk about love, I want to move their edited snippets into a new file titled “Love.” Is there a way to move the edited clips from the timeline to a new file? I know I can find the original clips and move those, but I have already done a lot of editing and would like not to have to redo it.

Open Vegas TWICE – once for each project. Now you can copy and paste between projects.
Alternately, you could use nested VEG files (just drop the VEG file on the timeline) if your version supports that.
You could also simply render out the individual pieces and then put those renders in a new project.
