Hi guys, I am trying to cut a vector graphic into many small fragments and then spread each fragment so it has its own layer. This I will import into After Effects cs5.5 to animate the seperate pices .

    example:

Here greymachine uses type. I have a vector shape.when I try to use the knife tool I end up cutting great channels from my shape. I want to cut the vector shape up with no trace of the knife tool when I bring the layers into after effects.

Can any wise member here point me in the right direction?

    Peace

Problem solved. Illustrator had crashed leaving me with the eraser tool even though the knife tool was selected and showing as the active tool. Even when I restarted Ilustrator the problem kept happening.
In the end I rebooted my PC-windows 7 and now I am happily cutting my vector shape with the knife tool.

    peace
