I want to remove someone from the background. He’s on a stage & I was able to key out the blue wash on the wall behind him. So he’s cut out until he takes a few steps & stops in front of an area that didn’t key out. The area is a slash of light on a texture & the color is very close to his skin tone. Is their something that can take this out automatically? It’s a :10 clip so I tried to rotobezier a mask but it looks weak. Did I mention that he moves a lot?
    Help.

    I’m using AE7 Pro on a Mac.

Try to key out what you can, then rotoscope out the rest manually. It’s painstaking work, but you may find some tips if you search for “roto” at the COW.

    Options

    1. ROTOSCOPE him out. I know you said you did — but go back and pump the iTunes and re-do it. (this sounds like the right way to go)
    2. Mess with your levels. Throw on a threshold, add some blur, and try to use it as a luma/inverted luma matte as you see fit. You may need multiple layers. (somewhat quick easy dirty fix)

    >>>…pump the iTunes…
That was the first thing I did!

    >>>…You may need multiple layers.
I didn’t consider this. I was trying to everything with one mask.
    Thanks!
