  • Custom Metadata Fields in FCP?

Posted by Allan White on July 7, 2008 at 6:36 pm

Greetings all! I’m bringing in batch lists from another app (CatDV, a great video asset manager), and I’d like to make use of some custom fields (‘people’, ‘keywords’, etc.).

I’ve seen demos of FCP where there were custom metadata fields, but cannot for the life of me figure out where custom fields can be added or enabled. Am I missing something basic? I’m running FCP 6.03 in OS 10.4.11.

Note: I’m not talking about QT clip metadata, which was added recently in Log & Transfer and FC Server. I’m simply wanting to map custom fields in FCP.

Ah, I may have found the answer: it looks like control-clicking on a heading will allow one to edit the columns. Man, I looked everywhere – so I thought! Page 66 in the FCP manual.

I guess one has to know what to look for sometimes.

Update: The ‘Keywords’ and ‘Script ID’ (formerly Master Comment fields) come across, but not ‘People’ (a multi-select field). Looking into it.

Anyone else have anything to add in this area?
