  • Custom LUT and capture D21 log

Posted by Mathieu Marano on May 26, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Is the custom LUT function on the Kona 3 applies the LUT at the input or at the output?
I got to capture D21 footage recorded on HDCAM SR but the footage is ArriLog. Can I use the custom LUT to do a log to lin conversion on capture?

If not how can I do it?

    Thanks!

    Mathieu,

We can apply this in either place in Rave, but this may depend upon the application your using the Kona in. Some applications do not allow for work in extended range, therefore putting it on the the output will be moot, since the stream before it will be squashed (that would be bad).

In Rave since we support full range DPX files, we prefer to apply this on the output so that the data is kept pure.

    Cheers,

A disk drive recorder (that does more than the traditional DDR)

    * We use the AJA boards in our solution and have written our own driver for them.
