    Hi,

Slowly adapting to PPro from FCP7. Can someone enlighten me on the customization process of the keyboard shortcuts please? Here’s what I have, with a few repetitive pain points…

    1) Start PremierePro, Load the “Adobe Premiere Pro Default” Keyboard Layout Preset. “Save As” “My_Shortcuts”. Exit the dialog box.
    2) Call up the Keyboard Shortcut Editor again, which is populated with “My_Shortcuts” — good.
    3) Search/locate/edit a hotkey of your choice. Enable the hotkey entry so that you can change it. Type the desired keys and notice: the Keyboard Layout Preset name has changed from “My_Shortcuts” to “Custom”.
4a) If I click “OK”, I’ve added the modification to an un-saved “Custom” layout.
4b) If I want to save this to “My_Shortcuts”, I must click “Save As” and blindly type the layout name that I had (“My_Shortcuts”).

Is there a way to have the layout “stick” to “My_Shortcuts” once it’s loaded and build onto that rather than reverting to a virgin “Custom” layout at every edit?

    TIA,

    Alain Durocher

I was wondering the exact same thing. No one knows? This is such a weird thing to happen. Basically you have to make sure everything is perfect with the custom keyboard you make before saving it. That seems ridiculous though because you may want to change something down the line.

    Hi Danielle,

FWIW – Never heard back from anyone on this, neither here or on Adobe’s forum.

    Best regards,

    Alain

Thank you, Alain. I noticed there were no responses which is a shame. I tried to do some more research and it appears there really is no way to do this other than to do a new “save as” every time you make an adjustment. Seems like a very strange way to do this. If you find out anything else, please post here and I will do the same!
