Custom font weirdness
About 30 years ago, I designed a font for some John McLaughlin album covers I designed. I always hand-lettered the font in my illustrations, so the actual postscript or any other format of font was never created. Last summer I was approached by an author who is writing a book about the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and I was asked to do the cover which I did. In the process, the author requested the font, so I had a Typographer I know do it up, in Open Type, TrueType and Postscript. no problem, looks great on my dual 800 G4 running Tiger, works great in PS 7, InDesign 2, Illustrator 10. Fair enough.
So today I install the ttf and otf fonts on my G5 running the same OS, but with FCP 5, PS CS2, Illustrator CS2 and the LiveType that came with FCP Studio.
All of them see the fonts, which is an all-caps font, but the letters D.G,J,K,L,P,Q,W,X,Y,Z, all punctuation, and numbers missing! All the apps behave the same, but get this, in LiveType, it draws the lower case letters (which I designed 30 years ago but were not included in this font) and it draws them perfectly! I swear, this thing is haunted. Any ideas?
Have a wonderful day.
