I’ve got a model with a considerable amount of hypernurbs, symmetry objects, booleans etc. I was under the impression that after I was happy with the model, to use “current state to object” to freeze the objects, therefore reducing file size and faster rendering.

I did a test and my file size went up dramatically.

Am I wrong to assume that “current state to object” would knock down the file size and make it render faster? Because if not…what’s the point of using current state to object? Thanks.

By making it a single object you have increased the amount of polys, Converting a hyper nurbs object is actually kinda rare. However boole operations take so much power that it sometimes makes your viewport slow and then converting it is the best option. Symmetry can be difficult to texture and impossible to rig so it needs to be converted some of the time.

There are some really good modeling tutorials all over that can explain good habits to build and explain some of this stuff in depth. c4dcafe.com is a good place to start.
