  • Curious question about AVCHD conversion methods

    Hi guys,

I use a Vixia HF s21 that shoots 1080i30 as AVCHD. The whole time I’ve had the camera I’ve simply been using FCP7’s log and transfer to bring the footage in as Prores 422. I’ve never had a single problem with anything, it’s more so just that I’ve been looking at a lot of stand alone software recently like Clipwrap and AVCHD Upshift that convert AVCHD as well. I wasn’t able to find a definitive answer, so I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me if I’m losing possible quality by using log and transfer, and if I should instead switch to a program like Clipwrap for my AVCHD footage.

If you use ClipWrap…or Log and Transfer…the quality is the same. Neither has a poorer quality conversion.
