Just installed FCP Studio and when I ran FCP5 , I noticed that the only included plug-ins (Title 3D, Title Crawl, Text Scrambler and Vector Shape) did not appear in the usual pull-down menu. So I created a “Boris” subfolder in the Plug-Ins folder and copied them to it and VOILA they show up under “Boris” in the pull-down menu. Anyone else notice this?

…by the way, I installed Studio under OS 10.4.1, regardless of what my sigfile indicates…

It should automatically appear in a submenu in Generators.

Boris Calligraphy 2.0 is one of the real unsung features in FCP5. Boris did some great things to improve the text tools and added useful other elements. In all the presentations I’ve seen, and in all the online articles, no one has mentioned this. It’s one of the outstanding new features in FCP5.

    All the best,

    Tom

Well that’s just it – they didn’t appear ANYwhere – not in the Viewer’s generators pulldown or anywhere in the Effects tab of the Browser – until I created a subfolder in the plugins folder for them. Then they showed up like they should. Curious, no?

Same here. I don’t see them. I did open up a Boris title from an old FCP4 project. It opened up fine.

I’ll try creating a new folder for the plugins.

Are you also trying to load other non-Apple (3rd party) plugins at the same time?
If so, if you remove those, do the Boris plugins then load fine from their default location?
