Posted by Clyde Villegas on June 22, 2010 at 5:18 amHow did they do this? The camera is going around people frozen in time.

June 22, 2010 at 9:37 amThis shot is achieved with a motion control rig and the actors are simply pretending to be frozen in time. They are also suspended in air or in motion with supports that are later digitally painted out. Elements like papers, glass, fire or water is all CG and the transitions are CG as well.

June 22, 2010 at 3:21 pm[Mark Suszko] “opening titles for “Watchmen”.”
Which is, btw, one of the best opening-title sequences ever.

The opening sequence was the equivalent of flying across the world in a private jet laced with luxuries and first class service.
The remainder of the movie was like having both engines loosing thrust at 30000 feet and screaming all the way as you spiral down to earth for 3.5 hours.

June 24, 2010 at 4:36 pmHey guys, I know somewhere on Creative Cow there is a post that has this same video but it also has one of clowns doing a robbery. That video is also freeze frame, but for the life of me I can’t find it here or on youtube. Could anyone point me in the right direction 🙂
Never mind, I found it. It ended up being over at video copilot. My bad. For viewing pleasure…

June 25, 2010 at 4:44 amI remember it, and in fact at first thought I was looking at the same thing. I want to say it was part of a Sony marketing demo… try a google vid search including Sony, clowns, and special effects in the search, it may come up. The neat thing about the clown caper one was that narratively, it was an ouroburos: when you got to the end, it was the beginning, seamlessly.
