  • CS6 Turn-Key system with Blackmagic problems

Rain Element V2, 12 Core 32 GB RAM
    Quadro 5000
    Blackmagic Multibridge Pro
    Windows 7 Pro
    Adobe Production Premium CS6

    Problem:
Scroll bar and Program monitor in Premiere freezes while audio meters display levels but no sound. Video goes black on Client monitors and no audio is heard through speakers. This happens out of the blue during some edit sessions on old sequences and even new test projects. Only way to get video and audio back is with a re-start of the system. Problem is this has been happening every week since the Turn-Key system was installed by our VAR. Rain support had us re-install the Blackmagic driver 3 times, The NVidia driver 2 times and our VAR does not think the problem is a bad Blackmagic Multibridge Pro.
I can get the system running by changing preferences and not using the Blackmagic, but using my second monitor for the client to view and listening to the audio out of the headphone jack to the audio board is INSANE since I have to edit at an angle so the client can see the computer monitor over my shoulder.
Sometimes its difficult to get the VAR here even though they sold the system mainly with their word of great support.

Some here say we should return the system, I say since it is a Turn-Key system it is difficult to pinpoint the problem. Once that is solved everything should go well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does your problem look similar to this?

If so, it’s fairly likely to be a BMD driver issue, possibly only happening on Multibridge Pro – but not a system issue.

    Hi

I also experience the same freezing issues using a combination of an older BM card (the Decklink Extreme 2 ) and CS6, so this is definitely not machine-related. The only way out is a reboot as you described.
The problem then disappears only to reappear a few days later.
