CS5 vs Wireless mouse
Posted by Ted Strickler on April 5, 2011 at 9:03 pmWhen I intalled CS3 a couple years ago it was very unstable and some one advised me to get rid of my wireless mouse. I did and the problem went away. Now my question is: Does CS5 (Premiere Pro) still have the same wireless mouse problem?

Wow, first time I hear about it. My wild guess is that it’s not the wireless or the mouse that was the culprit but the driver. Can’t be 100% sure though. Most of today’s wireless mice use drivers that are already in the OS – which will make it safe from rogue or bloated drivers. My CS5 demo laptop uses a wireless mouse, and seems to be stable.

April 5, 2011 at 9:52 pmI use a wireless mouse on my primary computer every day with Premiere Pro CS5.
My guess is that it wasn’t the wirelessness of the mosue that was the problem, but something else, and switching to a new mouse got past that problem. We have seen plenty of cases where a bad driver for a pointing device (mouse, pen, etc.) has caused a problem—not just with Premiere Pro.

April 5, 2011 at 10:25 pmThat’s good news. It sure seemed to be the wireless because when I uninstalled the mouse program the problem went away. I still am able to use a wireless keyboard without problems. The keyboard and mouse came packaged together (Microsoft 4000) but only the mouse gave me a problem. Some one on the forum had the same problem with the same solution.

April 6, 2011 at 4:00 amI’ve been using a wireless mouse on my primary workstation since CS2…
Never had an issue of any kind.
Like the others have said, it could be that the driver for that particular wireless mouse was funky.

April 6, 2011 at 9:47 pmThere WAS an issue with Microsoft’s Intellipoint software which come with it’s wireless mice, as well as wired ones.
Here’s an article.

Perhaps this is what you are thinking about? Other than that, I join the other posters here who have been happily wireless for years with Premiere.

May 2, 2011 at 2:18 pmAfter a few weeks of using my new system with CS5 and a wireless mouse I am happy to report that all is well. No cursor problems and no jitters. I really love CS5 but have to learn the differnces between it and CS3.
