I am about to throw my computer out the window. I simply want to do an opacity dissolve with two seperate jpegs in the AE CS5 timeline. The preset fade in+out-frames works for some images, I have also simply keyframed in the opacity changes at the end of the top clip and overlapped the bottom clip
regardless of how I do it I get a dither dissolve. I have checked all the clip settings and there is nothing that I can see that would make this happen. I have included a screen show of what the dither dissolve is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

make sure that the blending mode is not set to ‘dissolve’ (layer>blending modes, set to ‘normal’).

That was the solution, I was confused as I couldnt find the “layer properties” next to or around the clip within the timeline and more so since the preset animation had a composite layer option…Either way, I really appreciate your help.
