I am a teacher (and editor for 30 years) and we just upgraded to CS5. We use Sony HDD camcorders because they allow students to shoot something and then immediately work with the footage and the video quality is superb. BUT – new problem with CS5. When we import the Mpeg2 HDD file the audio is forced to a Dolby 5.1 track and that is track 4 by default. If we want to move that audio track around we have to delete all the stereo tracks and replace them with 5.1 tracks. Work arounds with students aren’t ideal so is there anyway I can change the default project settings to open up automatically as all 5.1? Will that work for tape or other formats we import?

I have also tried to turn off the dolby on the camcorders and that is impossible. For students, looking at a 6 channel audio meter is very confusing so I am not happy with the CS5 change. CS3 had it’s problems but allowed us to put any audio anywhere.
    Thank you!
