I am confused, i imported HD video from my Canon A1, edited the video then output to standard DV using media export. As i am from Australia i choose Pal DV Widescreen setting then exported the video.

I am on a iMac 27 i7 machine with Production Premium CS5 by the way.

Her is my problem, when i view the newly created file in quicktime it squash’s it up to view in 4:3.

If i view the same video file in VLC media player it plays in the true 16:9 form and looks great.

What is going on, is there a problem with quicktime?

    Thanks.

    Regards, Cliff Elliott

Hi cliff this is an old problem in QT.

It has trouble with the aspect ratio of DV files and looks at then as square pixels so it looks like anamorphic 4:3 because that is what it is in sq pixels.

VLC can understand the aspect ratio info and shows you what the shape would look like on a widescreen TV.

    😉
