CS5 Audio waveform question
I shoot double sound system for interview’s, using a zoom H4n as an audio recorder. The H4n meters tell me my audio signal is peaking at -3dB, which is what I set it for.
When I load it into CS5, it only hits around – 18dB, and sounds very soft. Normalizing in Premiere Pro helps a little, but I still don’t get up to -12dB. If I push the track gain to +6dB, it gets better, but still is not a proper level.
Today I found this in a thread on Adobe’s website. When I select the clip in my Premiere timeline, right click, send to Soundtrack, Render and Replace, as soon as Soundtrack loads the clip, the waveform in Premiere is expanded tremendously. That’s without doing anything to the audio clip in Soundtrack, except loading it.
The level is the same, incidentally. It’s only the waveform that changes. The issue still reamins
