first sentence i meant to say “uninstalled version 1.5” anyway, i think doing this took out some core components of the program and screwed up cs4. What do you think?

You probably uninstalled shared component, and Premiere somehow won’t replace those even with the new installation.

This is the sure way to reinstall Premiere:

Uninstall ALL Adobe software, including flash, Acrobat, etc.

Delete all Adobe folders afterwards. First you will have to go to Control panel > Folder options > View and show hidden files and folders.

    Delete the following folders

    C:Users{yourname}/AppData/Roaming/Adobe

    C:Users/{yourname}/AppData/Local/Adobe

    C:Program Files/Adobe

    C:Program Files/Common Files/Adobe

    C:Program Files (x86)/Adobe

    C:Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe

    C:ProgramData/Adobe

    Then install again.

hi, thanks for the walk through. i did all of that, now when i try to open up my project and it asks me where is this file, that file etc. I click on the video file that it is looking for to link up with and i get an error message “unsupported or damaged file”

First, be sure to hit update so that you have the latest version. What type of file is it?
Does it only happen with one file?

hey, i just re-installed and there is no hdv support. when starting a new project there is no option for capture settings besides the DV setting. i just installed it 2 weeks ago and everything was gravy. now there is stuff missing for hdv….it’s driving me crazy

Sounds like you are up for the next step, clean OS install.

I’d back up format and start over. Be sure to keep 1.5 out of it, or create a dual boot.

hey, thanks for the help! I did an install, then re-installed cs4 and got it back up and working. All of this in an attempt to get boris fx working in my comp, just for the vignette look. for some reason it doesn’t want to work for me.

    shiza!

    thanks.
