  CS4, Vista 64, XDCAM EX – keeps freezin’

  I’m trying to edit some projects with a load of XD EX footage (shot full HD, 25fps). There are 100+ individual clips. Even with our fairly beefy machine (8 core, 16Gb RAM, 15k SAS drives) Prem keeps freezing during mundane stuff like scrubbing back and forth on the timeline. Removing some of the clips seems to help, but it’s weird that it baulks at an hour of individual EX clips when I can edit an hour or two of DVCAM footage (in hour-long files and at not much less of a data rate than the EX) on a laptop. Anyone else having similar problems or got any ideas why it might be doing this?
