My college is putting together a CS4 system for me and I read a tech note from adobe saying that it does not recommend using firewire drives for video. Anyone shed any light on that? College IT dept. is going to provide a DELL machine. Anything special I should request?
    Thanks,
    Ralph

These days, you are better off with a eSATA (if you need and external drive). Firewire can be problematic if you need to capture and use the drive at the same time, in fact in some cases, you can’t.

Most external enclosure will support at least eSATA and USB as backup connection.
