Hello, I just upgraded to Premiere Pro CS4 and my second monitor (extended desktop) has since been unable to show video. I extend the interface across the two screens and everything works except that the source and program window will not show anything if it is in the second monitor (but will work fine in the first main monitor). The second monitor will only show a gray rectangle in the source and program window. The two monitors worked fine in 2.0. Is this a known issue with CS4, or is there some fix for this? Thanks!

    My machine:
    Windows XP SP3
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
    2 Gigs RAM
    GeForce Go 7700

Did it work with CS3 or some other NLE?

It worked fine in Premiere Pro 2.0, I never tried it with CS3.

Am I correct in assuming this is a notebook? I won’t say that it won’t work, however there are many issues involved with getting video and dual notebook monitor setups to work. First to consider is the that video RAM is shared. The other is to be careful to use the correct video drivers for that notebook. I have found that in some cases the video chip manufacturers drivers work better than the notebook makers drivers and in other cases I have seen the reverse is true.
I would try to change drivers first. If no joy, than you may want to consider a fresh OS install.

I found that I can use the dual monitors when my NVIDIA Control Panel is set to Horizontal Span instead of Dual View. Strange, because everything else works when spanned across both screens in Dual View. Well, at least it works in some configuration…

It is rather tricky. I try to document people’s successes here.

    Cheers
