  cs4 project saving problem

  Hi,

  I am working in a project and routinely save about every ten or twenty minutes with a save as to a new project every couple of hours. Lately when I save the changes are not being recorded and the autosaves which are set to every 5 min. are non existent and premiere is crashing every few times it tries to auto save and sometimes save. I am hoping some might have a suggestion as to why could happen or a work around? Thanks in advance.

  xp
  Q9300 2.5ghz
  4gb ram
  nvidia 9600gt

  media is coming from a single usb 2.0 drive, projects are accessed/saved from a secondary internal drive(not the system drive).
