    Hi guys,

Just a bit of a heads up really – I purchased Adobe CS4 immediately and then found that Matrox have no support drivers for it. They have no planned release date for them as yet, so unfortunately it was a bit of a pointless spend! I know I should have checked with Matrox first, but I wish Adobe would release info to Matrox sooner, so editors like me could be up and running with CS4 instead of waiting months for drivers to be created.

We have a similar problem at our studio. Without checking, we install CS4 upgrade. Now our Black magic design card does not work. They have no date as to when the CS4 driver will be ready. They said Premiere CS4 itself only support fire wire hardware only. Only version 4.1 and up will allow third party capture card to access CS4.

We were a little disappointed. Our CS3 was rock solid & now CS4 (premiere) is so buggy & slow. Can’t wait till 4.1 or even 4.3 to come out. As of now we are afraid to edit in our main online suite with the client monitoring the session. We are now working with our other workstation with CS3 only.

Love the new feature of CS4 but useless if they don’t work as promise. But we have faith all this will be fixed, but hopefully soon. Feels like a beta tester now.

I don’t think Adobe holds anything back from anyone in the development sphere…it’s to their advantage to have 3rd parties supporting them as soon as possible.

I think many 3rd party vendors just don’t have as many engineering resources to throw at the update so it takes them a little longer.

I agree with you. I hope that adobe and it 3rd party fix these issue soon. As I can already see complain of “errors, bugs & slow system” is popping all over the internet.
I hate to see a FCP vs. PP ads just like Mac vs. PC commercial airing soon. LOL
Adobe needs to address this ASAP and silence all the blogs and forum. I love CS4 now, and can’t wait till it’s stable.

I have to agree. We had mixed results with CS3 and XDCam – no metadata support, but it held up fairly well until projects grew beyond a certain size.

CS4 has been anything but stable for me, even on a one-year old PC. Trimming in XDCam crashes the app as often as not. And though it’s nice to be editing my native files instead of proxies, the hit I take on performance (along with stuttering audio and video, this on a 35mb/sec, single stream of XDCam) makes editing quite difficult. That and having to wait for minutes while Media Encoder launches to export a single still makes me wonder if anyone at Adobe has ever earned a living as an editor. I wouldn’t dream of having clients in while I try to edit on this trainwreck.

This seems like a blatant case of design-ship-test. FCP may not have the allegedly rich feature set that CS4 boasts, but at this point I don’t care if Adobe ships it with a juggler and a brass band – the feature set is worthless if I can’t do basic editing, and/or have the app run for more than a half -hour without a crash.
