I am new to Adobe PP CS4. This is my first project. I have been using Avid Liquid up til now and decided to crossover to the light side…

I am in the middle of a project, shot in HDV 60i and I find that I want to use some older footage that is SD 30.

Can both be imported and used in the same project or do I need to convert one? So far I have not been able to import both. Can someone tell me how to do it?

    Thanks

It appears, after doing a little more work, that my problem has multiplied.

Here is what I have done so far along with a little background.

I have been editing video for about six years using Avid Liquid. When I decided to go with HD I made the decision to switch to Adobe. I built a high-speed computer with MS Vista 64, purchased Adobe CS4 and a Canon XHA1 camera. This is my first attempt at using them all together.

I found that Premier Pro will not recognize my camera, making downloading video dificult. I tried MS MovieMaker to download the video. I used it to download the SD footage and the HD footage. When I try to import all the video into Premiere Pro the SD imports with no problem. The HD gives me an error, “file format not supported”. The file type shows as xxxxxxx.dvr-ms. When downloading with MS MovieMaker I set it to download as MPEG.

What do I need to do to get my computer to recognize my Canon XHA1? I feel that if that problem was solved I could at least get the HD footage downloaded in the correct format.

I would really appreciate any input you have on this. Thanks…
