CS4 Importer Process Server & Sound Problems
I posted this in the Matrox section as well, but I’d like to see if anyone with CS4 experience might have an answer. I am not convinced it has anything to do with my hardware anyway, but I think I’m out of options when it comes to my understanding of the software.
I am running Windows Vista Business, I have 8 GB of RAM, it’s a 64-bit OS, and my processor is listed as such: “Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5355 @ 2.66GHz 2.67 GHz (2 processors)”.
As for my Matrox hardware, I have an Axio LE running Utilities version 4.2.1.177, and we are currently running the full Adobe Creative Suite CS4 with all recent updates installed as of August 15.
Recently I’ve been having a ton of problems with the Importer Process Server crashing or freezing mid-project. It seems like after it would happen once, that same project would forever be cursed with an Importer Process Server crash every time I opened it on my system.
A co-worker of mine has the same set up and when this would happen I would transfer my project to his system, and it worked fine. From there I could save it on his system, transfer it back to mine, and then open it with no difficulty.
To fix these issues I went through a long uninstall/reinstall of both the Adobe Suite and the Matrox utilities, I deleted Adobe preferences and used the Adobe cleaning software to eliminate any traces of CS4 between the uninstall & reinstall, I ditched both Nero and Super (the two “outsider” programs I had installed),and I did a very thorough cleaning & defrag of my system.
Now, my problems have shifted. When accessing anything that has sound, from playing back a Premiere sequence to even opening an MP3 in VLC Media Player, there is always the danger that I will suddenly get a blue screen of death. Today it happened upon playing back something on a sequence in Premiere, yet on Friday it happened when I was opening an .mov with nothing else running in the background. It is not a repeatable problem but it happens at least once a day.
To add to my woes, I still occasionally get the Import Process Server error, although not as frequently.
So I’ve taken the time to upload everything I can related to these problems. Please visit this link to download the various txt and dmp files associated with both problems:
If anyone can offer any insight, that would be great. Thanks in advance.
