CS4 – Grabbing a Frame
Posted by William Mcqueen on October 1, 2010 at 6:49 pmI can’t seem to find the location for grabbing a single frame for a still frame in CS4 Source Window. Doesn’t seem to be located where it once was in CS3. Maybe it’s my imagination.

October 1, 2010 at 9:50 pmG’day Bill,
When exporting from CS4 it does “function” differently than previous versions.
To export a frame, go to File>export>media…
Inside media encoder settings select a still image setting such as bmp. Set where you want to save and press ok.
The frame will be saved. Then import it manually. It’s not as efficient as previous versions but it’s there. CS5 is much easier to export a frame. Still doesn’t have the auto add to project tick box. They are looking to add that back ASAP.
For stills in project I tend to add match the frame I want, add it to the timeline as 1 frame (set in out on the frame) before adding. Then I use the rate strecrh tool to pull out the length. The best reason for doing it this way is that the frame holds, but I can update it with another frame if I need to at any other time. I also tick the hold in point frame option as it can be a little buggy when replacing the frame.
