CS4 Crashes HDV clips into Source Window (solution)
If you are experiencing crashes when working with HDV footage when you are dragging HDV clips from the timeline to the SOURCE WINDOW, then I have another CRAZY solution that I have discovered to get around these insane CS4 code bugs!
Workaround:
Instead of dragging the clip to the source window, use another clip that you have from another project…whatever, that has had the video “stripped” off. (in other words you just have audio) It does not have to be a long audio clip….just a few seconds.
1) Take that audio from the timeline and either double click it or drag it to the source window from the timeline.
2) The audio wavefile should now show up in the SOURCE monitor. After that, simply take the clip you were having problems with and double cick it or drop it from the timeline to the SOURCE monitor and like magic it appears in the SOURCE monitor and CS4 does not crash!
Something about this procedure corrects the problem of the crashes when dragging clips to the source monitor.
After you do this once, the problem dissapears for good, at least until you are done with the project and do not close it.
Go figure! But it WORKS!!!
