CS3, in Vista, on a MacBook Pro
I saw there were a few posts on this topic back in November and I’d be very interested to hear of any updated or revised opinions.
Our workflow requires the use of a laptop for editing and I am wondering how well CS3 works in Vista on a Mac (more specifically a MacBook Pro). This would be my first experience with a Mac.
I don’t want to go to the expense of buying CS3 for a Mac as I can deactivate my existing copy and migrate to the new machine.
How well do CS3 applications run in this sort of set-up? Are there any limitations or instabilities?
Is it preferable to go the Boot Camp route or the Parallels route?
If I don’t get the latest MacBook Pro I’m thinking of the Sony VGN-AR61ZU. The Sony has 2x250GB 5400rpm hdds configured as RAID 0. The fastest hdd for the MacBook Pro appears to be a single 200GB 7200 rpm. Any views on which would be preferable performance-wise (storage-wise I know about)? Would the differences be significant?
The Sony also has a Blu-Ray burner. I don’t need this in the laptop but I do need one somewhere in our IT configurations, so if I go down the Mac route that’s an extra cost.
Does anybody know if it is possible, or will it be possible, to upgrade the Mac to have dual hdds (configured in RAID) and an internal Blu-Ray burner?
Which would you choose between the Sony and Mac, and why?
