CS3 – Export each layer as a separate movie?
Posted by Nathan Quattrini on April 12, 2008 at 7:53 pmIs there a way to set it up to export each video layer as its own numbered video?

April 13, 2008 at 7:22 amYou could turn the solo button on to the track you want and render that out.
Check that in your Render Settings module the “Solo Switches” setting is at “Current Settings”.
Also, be aware that you can’t just click a solo button, add the comp to the render queue, solo another layer and add that to the render queue. You’ll just end up with two copies of the last layer you soloed.
You could even just copy/paste each layer into a comp on its own. That way you won’t have to nurse the render queue so much. You might even be able to automate this with scripting.
If you haven’t got too many layers, I’d go the copy/paste route.

April 15, 2008 at 9:02 amHere’s what I do:
– Duplicate the comp and move it to a new folder.
– Open the duplicate, select all layers I want a separate render of and pre-comp them sending all settings with them.
– Now in the new folder the pre-comps should appear. I select and add them to render queue. Render out with a codec that have a alpha – I use Animation.
The first step is to avoid going into a dead end so I can go back and change stuff easier if needed plus it keeps the project from getting overly messy. Also make sure the comp you start from has a black background to keep the edges clean.
Hope this helps.
