  • cs3 crashes when i customize keyboards, and other times

i just updraged to cs3 from the first version of premiere pro. well, not technically upgraded, i bought the full version, did a wipe of the old, and did a full install of cs3. i find this new version crashing a lot. the most annoying thing, i want to change a few keyboard shortcuts, and everytime i select it from the menu, it crashes and restarts. i tried reinstalling it, but that didnt help. i heard something about doing a complete wipe of all adobe products on your computer before installing cs3. but i didnt want to do this because i have different versions of all the software (photoshop 7.0, ae 6.5, encore cs2, etc)

    anyone have any ideas?

I’ve heard of this one before and had the same problem. I was told that if there are any corrupt fonts on your computer this will cause the problem. Correct me if I’m wrong guys but that’s what I was told. Now trying to find the corrupt font is another problem. I gave up on it.

If you have bought PProCS3 then EncoreDVD CS3 will be free with it. I’d run the cleanup file from adobe, and reinstall the CS3 software 1st. Then reinstall your cs2 software (AE), but remember you don’t need to reinstall encore it comes free with PProCS3.

PS: make sure your computer specs are up-to-date. Need a decently grunty cpu to run cs3 well.

How many editors does it take to change a light bulb?

Download the latest patch for PPro and that should fix the keyboard customization crash.

Where can you get this patch? I went to Adobes site and can’t find it.

You should be able to run the updater from PPro – look under the Help tab…or try here…

Oh…I did do that and have the newest updates to 3.1.1 but it still crashes when I try to use the FCP setting in Premier on my PC so I just gave up on it.

ok, i downloaded that patch, and it fixed the problem with crashing in the keyboard customize menu. but the program is still crashing a lot on me. im running a 2.4 p4 with a gig and a half of ram running on xp pro. i know its not the latest, but i never had a problem running the first version of premiere pro. i may just have to downgrade if it keeps crashing like this.
