CS3 and XP on BootCamp
My XP machine is old and dying and I’m considering a Mac. So I won’t have to toss all my software I’d like to run XP via BootCamp. Has anyone had any issues lower performance, stabilty or whatnot with the Xp on a Mac setup?

No issues at all. Its very fast, and you can use MP in AE to access more RAM.
You’ll have to buy a new license for XP however.

I’m sorry Brian for not knowing this… what’s MP? I cringe to think about how much eye rolling must be happening while you read this!
Also I know when anyone asks about system configs the answer is to get the fastest processor with the most memory. But for those of us new to the Macs, are there any sites that suggest what processor, memory and card combination for XP CS3 on BootCamp is best (assuming that money isn’t raining from the sky)?

Sorry. MP is multi-processing, enabled through preferences in After Effects.
Generally a faster processor and more RAM is correct.
The RAM required is in the form of FB-DIMMS and the Mac Pro is very fussy about the quality of RAM.
Don’t buy additional memory from Apple, they charge a horrific premium. OWC has tested vertified memory for less than half of Apple’s price.

Thanks again Brian. I don’t use the Multi-Processor option by the way because it conflicts with Nucleo 2.
