  • CS 5.5 AME: How do I render in the “background”

Posted by Bruce Pelley on October 27, 2011 at 4:37 pm

so that it doesn’t completely tie up my computer?

I’d like to do something else on my PC at the same time so I can continue to work on other things.

Can AME be a stand alone app or does it process only when CS 5.5 is open?

How do I go about accomplishing this goal?

I’m string to use CS 5.5 in earnest and had read somewhere that I could both render and surf the net simultaneously (for example)!

    Thanks in advance.

AME is a standalone. So if you want to surf while AME is encoding no problem.

    So, if I may re-ask:

With CS5.5 open, while a file is being rendered, I can’t minimalize, exit the program or use anything else without losing what is being rendered.

That’s what I need to solve.

How do i get around that?

It sounds to me like you exported right from Premiere instead of the Media Encoder. If you do that you won’t be able to minimize it. If you hit the “queue” button next to “export”, you’ll launch the media encoder.

What is your experience thus far? Perfoming other tasks should not be an issue…

AME can be minimized or pushed aside or just left up with another app running and the export will continue.

    Am I missing something?

Apparently I must be getting senile or something.

I’ll re-explore all options while a file is being rendered.

The problem I guess is myself!

    That is 100% the case!

    Thanks for the solution.
