Crossing over…
I currently work on an Avid Meridian system (Media Comp Ver. 10.6.0 on Macs running OS 9.2- I know, I know spare me the jokes.) with Avid Unity storage. We backup projects using Retrospect to AIT. My question is… if we move over to FCP in the future is all of the media saved to the AIT’s and all the metadata for that matter, lost in Avid land? Or is there a way to transfer over so that FCP will recognize it? The obvious answer I know is to restore pertinent projects and make archive tapes before I get rid of my Avid’s. I’m looking for an easier and less time consuming way to retain all the backing up we’ve done over the years. Thanks.

I would suggest keeping an Avid around…or getting at least one Avid Xpress package so you can restore your old prjects as needed…
then maybe the guys at Automatic Duck can help you translate those old dogs into something you can use in FCP….
