I’m overwhelmed by Apple’s list of recommended and minimum supported graphics card list for FCP 5.1.

    I have two older Macs:

    a MAC “QuickSilver”
Processor: Dual 800 MHz Power PC G4 2 MB L3 cache per processor Memory: 1.5 GB SDRAM OS: 10.3.9
    Current card: NVIDIA GeForce2 TwinView

and a MAC “Mirrored Door Drive”
Processor: Dual 867 Mhz PowerPC G4 1 MB L3 cache per Processor
Memory: 2 GB DDR SDRAM OS: 10.3.9
    Current card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX

This may seem like a silly question– how do I properly research and pick the right graphics card for each? Where do I find information on this topic? Where do I start?

    Thank you

I think you are just barely in there with the minimum system specs. Video wise you will be fine with FCP. Just don’t expect to play with Motion.

The 867 Dual-Mirrored should work with Motion as it’s current limit to loading it is an 867 Mhz G4 machine. The ATI Radeon 9800 Mac Edition with 256 MB Vram is a grat card for Motion 2.

I have the Quicksilver 2002 dual 1.0 GHz G4 and it runs Motion very well with the same card that has 128 MB Vram.
