I’ve been using Vegas since 4 and have loved it more than anything else on the market.

Now I seem to be hitting a small snag with it. I know Vegas out of the box won’t edit Divx or Xvid (I have codecs installed and it wont take them quietly). So I converted the divx to Mpeg 1s and they import fine. But now whenever I go to use the crossfades they get REALLY choppy and slow. I’ve got a gig and a half of RAM and 600mb of it going to Vegas 6.

Is there any way to get around this or fix it? I’ve never had this problem before. Only since I’ve installed 6 recently.

    Thanks.

Are you seeing this even after they’ve been rendered?

I havent tried exporting anything as of yet. I was just trying some test footage to see how well 6 works. I wanted to try to fix it before I had to render anything major so that I will have a clearer view of how the video flows. Can’t do that if the fades and what not wont display properly. Timing might be off.

Try rendering a brief section (2 sec. before and after the fade) and see what happens. I’m sure it’ll be OK. I’ve been using 6.0 since it was released and have only had one minor problem with it (which was quickly resolved by Sony).

You can also set your preview window to “auto draft” and although it may get pixellated it should flow smoother.

Yeah I tried that as well. It didnt help at all. It wouldnt bother me that much if its always happened. But it just started happening when I installed 6 and started using it. I may swap back to 4 or something. I dunno.

Thanks for the help. I’ll render some video and see if maybe that will clear it up.
