  • Cross Dissolve Isn’t Snapping to Both Clips

Posted by Dustin Brown on April 21, 2008 at 4:15 pm

Most of my clips either come straight from my 3D application or from AFX as sequential PNGs. I’ve noticed that, about half of the time, when I abut two clips together and I try to apply a Cross Dissolve between then, the transition won’t snap BETWEEN them the way it’s supposed to. It wants to snap completely to one clip or the other.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is there a solution?

    Thanks,
    Dustin

Be sure that you have extra frame handles at the end of the first clip and at the beginning of the second clip. If you don’t, PR won’t have anything to cross-dissolve between..

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Kevin. I appreciate it. One other thing that seems to happen sometimes (not always) is I’ll get a message saying “Insufficient media. This transition will contain repeated frames.” There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to when this happens, as I’m creating all of my clips the same way.

    Any suggestions there?

    Thanks,
    Dustin

Start reading the manual about handles. That is the issue.
