cross desolve problem
using final cut pro I am attempting to do a cross desolve and having no success.
Both clips are back to back on the same track. I highlighted the junction between the 2 clips, chose effects/cross desolve, and received the following dialog: “insufficient content for edit.”
The first clip runs from 01-01-44-02 through o1-02-32-04.
The second clip runs from 01-02-32-04 through 01-03-16-06.I would appreciate any input as to what I should do to clarify this matter as the manual I have doesn’t specify clip length of this type of effect (or any other type of effect).

You apparently don’t have adequate handles to cover the overlap.
This is a common beginner’s error around here. We’ve all done it.
The easiest way to figure it out and to understand FCP’s silly paradigm limitations for transitions is to place your clips one on top of the other and adjust the upper’s opacity from 0 to 100 with two keyframes. This way you can see how much overlap is required to do the dissolve.bogiesan
