  • Cropping, hiding crop line when in motion?

Posted by Ted_kazear on May 16, 2005 at 4:58 am

hello, I am cropping some video images together, same camera position multiple shots. The action in the clips move every-now and then out of the cropped section of the clip so I am adjusting the crop using key frames under the motion tab. I am only using two clips and basically I am cropping the clips vertically in the center and from time to time I am adjusting left and right center. The line is totally visible, I am going to apply the same adjustments mathematically so to avoid the line. Dose anyone know how to blend the lines? Thank-you

I use Martin Baker’s DH box plugin, it works fantastically and the maths to use it is really simple.

    Take a look here:- https://www.digital-heaven.co.uk/indexflash.htm

Navigate to the DH_Box demo movie which shows the cropping & repositioning features that should help you.

Another option would be to apply an edge feather to both clips and overlap the border of your crop slightly. By “overlap the border” I mean to have video 2’s cropped border covering up video 1’s border. The edge feather will blur the line between the two clips. By overlapping the clips you will have more wiggle room for animating the moving border. Getting it to work properly will be tedious, but not impossible. Just keep tweaking it until you get it the way you want it.
