My question is simple. Can you crop around an image that isnt square or rectangle? because when I import an exported AI JPEG into FCP it always has the artboard which is hassle to deal with in AI.

my example being i have drawn a lineart style cartoon cinema and want to crop around its edges so i can put it into a video sequence on FCP cleanly. If it isnt possible, is there anything you suggest?

    Hope this makes sense. Thanks

still a newby. appreciating everyones help, hopefully i will be able to do the same 1 day.

most jpegs will have the artboard when exporting from AI. Try exporting the image as a PNG and set the background to transparent.

    Hi Bradley

    A million thank you’s

Just for anything who might be reading this post. The PNG format exported into FCP 7.0 with no problem. NOT containing any border. exactly what I wanted, this is something I will frequently use in future.

    Kind regards
