  • Cropping A Portion of a video in After Effects

    Hello,
I am attempting to extract a region of a video from the rest of the video. To be specific, there is a firework going off in the footage and I would like to extract just the firework from the video. I have drawn a mask around it, but I do not know where I should go from here.
    Thanks,
    Ivan Moutinho

That should be about it. From there it depends what you want to do with said firework.

The mask will “crop” the footage to whatever shape you drop. Everything else just gets blanked out. If you are trying to re-size the footage to the size of the firework go to Composition Settings and make your composition smaller. (it is under one of the tabs at the top of the screen).

Do you want to make the background transparent?

If so you may need to use some of the keying controls.

If the background is black you could try using the UnMult plugin.

    Its free from Red Giant.
